History, mission and goal

The Information / Reception Centre of Historical Tourism Visitors at Portiano, Lemnos, is accommodated in the boys’ school in Portiano village. It is a stone-built, single-room building with an elevated level and roof. The building is in a restoration process, to allow its re-use in order to accommodate the Centre. The exhibition is displayed around the central hall and in the center there is a large study table also available for use of PC provided.

The Information / Reception Centre of Historical Tourism Visitors at Portiano, Lemnos is a space with references to all historical data regarding the island. The sections formed and displayed in the showroom refer to mythology, the history of Lemnos from antiquity to the Turkish occupation, the liberation of the island and culminates in the section on Lemnos as a war theater of World War II and especially in Battle Gallipoli and the presence of ANZAC.
